Summary:

This is a civil action that claims that the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority failed to fully reimburse the Fire District for the emergency medical services provided throughout the Fire District’s boundaries as allegedly required by the plaintiff’s interpretation of two special acts.

As this is a dispute between two governmental entities, the plaintiff has moved to abate their own litigation and proceed with the Intergovernmental Dispute Resolution Processes provided under Chapter 164, Florida Statutes.  This process involves the administrative officers of the respective agencies, and ultimately the two governing bodies directly, to meet in an attempt to resolve the dispute.

If the Chapter 164 process does not resolve this matter, the County Attorney’s Office will bring all defenses, counterclaims, cross-claims, or third party claims as necessary or appropriate in the judgment of the County Attorney.
