Approve the award of bid to Estep Construction, Inc. for the sidewalk improvement project on Hercules Ave. and Greenbriar Blvd. from Sunset Point Road to Belcher Road.

Bid no. 156-0104-CP(DF) in the amount of $1,418,284.50 on the basis of being the lowest, responsive, responsible bid meeting specifications. All work is expected to be completed within three hundred sixty five (365) consecutive calendar days. Chairman to sign and Clerk of Court to attest.

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to complete the pedestrian network along Hercules Ave. and Greenbriar Blvd. from Sunset Point Road to Belcher Road.  Work will include completion of missing sidewalk segments, and driveway and ramp improvement on both sides of Hercules Ave. and Greenbriar Blvd.

 

Background Information:

Staff has received numerous requests from residents to complete the pedestrian network along Hercules Ave. and Greenbriar Blvd.  This project will address pedestrian safety concerns and meet compliance requirements to conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Funding expenditure not to exceed: $1,418,284.50

 

Funding is derived from the Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas):Transportation, Road and Street Facilities, Sidewalks projects program allocation (57%) and Local Agency Funding through the Florida Department of Transportation (43%).
