Approval of the award of bid with American Water Chemical, Inc. for reverse osmosis (RO) membrane cleaning chemicals (high and low pH) and low pH cleaner for the microfiltration membrane at the Solid Waste Department.

 

                     This contract is for a RO membrane cleaning chemicals (high and low pH) and low pH cleaner for the microfiltration membrane utilized by the Solid Waste Department.

                     Two bids were received with American Water Chemical, Inc. recommended for award as the lowest responsive, responsible bid received in the amount of $956,776.12 for a twenty-four-month term with provision for price adjustments annually based on the Consumer Price Index.

                     This is a new contract for the Solid Waste Department. This contract is for proprietary pH cleaning chemicals. Solid Waste also uses a generic low pH cleaning chemical. The proprietary and generic chemicals are desired in order to prevent biological growth from adapting to one specific chemical cleaner.

                     Funding is provided through the Solid Waste Department Operating budget.

 

Contract No. 22-0025-B-BW; estimated County annual expenditure of $478,388.06 with a twenty-four-month total contract expenditure not-to-exceed $956,776.12 on the basis of the lowest responsive and responsible bid received meeting specifications; Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest.

This will be a two (2) year contract with provision for annual price adjustments based on the Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Background Information:

On April 26, 2022, the Purchasing and Risk Division issued an Invitation to Bid on behalf of Solid Waste for Bid No. 22-0345-B-BW, Reverse Osmosis Membrane Cleaning Chemicals (High and Low pH).  Following the solicitation of Bid No. 22-0345-B-BW, two bids were received with American Water Chemical, Inc. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
