Approval of the 2020 State Legislative Program.

 

                     The 2020 State Legislative Program illustrates the Board’s priorities, state appropriations requests, and guiding principles for the 2020 Florida Legislative Session.

                     The program is a result of discussions with the Board, County staff, Pinellas County Legislative Delegation, and the County’s contracted state government relations firm.

                     Priorities include:

1.)                     Support state funding in the amount of $2,000,000 for the Tampa Bay Innovation Center

2.)                     Support state funding in the amount of $1,549,025 for Pinellas County Marchman beds

3.)                     Support state funding in the amount of $800,000 for the Highpoint Community Recreation fields

4.)                     Support the removal of statutory cap placed on the number of audits a building agency may perform on work done by a private provider in a given year.

                     In addition to the priorities included in the program, County staff, and our state government relations firm, The Southern Group, will closely monitor all issues that emerge throughout the 2020 Session and the remainder of the year.

Background Information:

After receiving input from the Board and holding follow-up meetings with the Pinellas Legislative Delegation, the program was put together to guide the County’s legislative advocacy efforts in the 2020 Legislative Session. The program reflects a targeted focus on the Board’s priorities, appropriation requests, and guiding principles
