Declare surplus and authorize the sale or donation of items on the attached lists of miscellaneous surplus items and various equipment.

 

Approval of the distribution of proceeds from the sale of such items to the fund that owned the item.

 

                     This action declares the listed items as surplus and authorizes their donation to partner agencies or sale to the highest bidder.

                     The usefulness of the identified surplus items (miscellaneous equipment) has been exhausted.

                     The Public Defender has requested the donation of its surplus computers, monitors, copiers and projector screens to the Vincent House, one of the County’s social action partners.

Summary

This action declares the listed items as surplus and authorizes their donation to partner agencies or sale to the highest bidder.  Staff has determined the usefulness of the listed miscellaneous equipment to County operations has been exhausted.  Excluding donations to any interested governmental entities, not-for-profit agencies, or Social Action Funding List designees, the remaining miscellaneous assets are to be liquidated through public auction conducted by GovDeals.com under provisions of the existing approved contract.

Background Information:

Miscellaneous equipment consists of computers, electronics, office equipment and furniture. Departments, constitutional officers and other elected officials transfer items that have reached the end of their useful life to surplus for disposition.

The Public Defender has exhausted the usefulness of thirty (30) computers, twenty (20) monitors, two (2) copiers and two (2) projector screens, and has requested donation to the Vincent House, a social action partner agency that can utilize them.

On February 17, 2020, Administrative Services will distribute a Notice of Surplus Equipment to the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, per Board approved resolution on January 14, 2014 (Resolution 14-8), granting preferred status on a rotating basis with the Juvenile Welfare Board of Pinellas County, the Suwanee County Board of County Commissioners, and the Pinellas County School Board.

On February 24, 2020, Administrative Services will distribute a Notice of Surplus Equipment to interested governmental units, Board Dependent Districts, and all department directors under the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners, constitutional and other elected officials, and other departments.

On March 02, 2020, Administrative Services will distribute a Notice of Surplus Equipment to Suwanee County Board of County Commissioners, Pinellas County School Board, Creative Pinellas, Florida Dream Center, Palm Harbor Community Services Agency, Vincent House, Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Social Action funded entities. 

 

Fiscal Impact:

Revenues derived from surplus sales vary with each auction.  Proceeds are distributed to the fund that owned the sold item.
