Approval of an award of bid to Westra Construction Corp. (Westra Construction) for the south train anoxic valve installation project at South Cross Bayou Water Reclamation Facility (SCBWRF).

Bid No. 145-0419-CP(DF); PID No. 2108/002472A; in the amount of $598,020.00 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within 140 consecutive calendar days.  Chairman to sign and Clerk of the Court to attest.

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to install electric operators on the south train anoxic effluent gates at the SCBWRF.  Installation includes nine (9) new weir gate riser stems and pedestals with actuators and associated conduit and wiring in the south train anoxic tanks.  Work also involves removing the nine (9) existing weir gate stems and pedestals.

 

Background Information:

The electric operators will replace manually operated gates that are no longer functional. The weir gates are operationally critical to effectively control flows at the facility and to isolate the anoxic tanks for periodic cleaning and other maintenance activities. The buildup of grit in the tanks reduces the capacity of the facility and limits the efficient operation, especially during extreme rain events with surcharged flows.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed:  $598,020.00

 

Funding for this project is derived from the Utilities Department Sewer Enterprise fund.
