Summary:

This agreement provides assurance to FDOT that the County is committed to following the current Federal Title VI laws pertaining to nondiscrimination.  The County is required to enter into a Title VI Nondiscrimination Assurance Agreement with FDOT as part of the recertification process and in order to continue receiving federal funding, including funding from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  The County is accomplishing this already through the Office of Human Rights, which functions to provide oversight and compliance with these requirements.

Background/Explanation:

The attached agreement lists specific requirements for the County to be in compliance.  The Title VI laws pertaining to nondiscrimination are followed throughout the County, and are reflected in the County’s competitively procured design and construction documents upon advertisement to ensure contractor compliance with the stated requirements of interest by FDOT and FHWA.  The Director of Human Rights serves as the Title VI officer, and their website hosts the County’s Title VI Nondiscrimination Policy and Grievance Procedure, the Limited English Proficiency Plan, as well as a Title VI complaint form.

The County previously entered into this agreement in 2015.  The agreement is active for a three (3) year period, during which time a new assurance agreement will be required.
