Summary:
The State Grant Program is provided to assist Florida counties with the installation and maintenance of enhanced 911 systems including periphery needs such as access and viewing of GIS data in order to support seamless E911 throughout the state of Florida. The E911 Board assists eligible counties through the E911 State Grant Program using E911 trust fund monies.
The application requires the County Administrator’s signature.
Background/Explanation:
The Pinellas County Regional 911 Center acts as the steward of all 911 Fee funding for Pinellas County including the five secondary PSAPs.
Grant monies received will be used for the development and participation in a Regional GIS Repository that will allow Pinellas County to view the GIS data of surrounding counties and allow those counties to view the data for Pinellas County. This will enhance the ability to determine the location of 911 callers, enhance the use of Next General 9-1-1 features for transferred 911 calls, and enhance the ability of emergency communications centers to relay caller location data to emergency responders when callers are near jurisdictional boundaries or responders are engaged in mutual aid.
The Regional GIS Database will contribute a necessary enhancement to improve the accuracy of emergency response.
Fiscal Impact:
Grant funds of $209,498.00 over five years, shall be provided on a cost reimbursement basis if the application is approved by the State of Florida E911 Board. No matching funds are associated with this grant. This grant was not anticipated during development of the FY24 Adopted Budget. Therefore, if approved, a budget resolution would be required to recognize and appropriate the funds into the Emergency Communications E911 System Fund.

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this agreement is granted under Code Section 2-62 (A)(1).
