Summary:
The purpose of the revision to the Grant Application is to increase EPA funding of the on-going effort to characterize air toxics and assess trends in ambient levels. Data will be used to measure progress in meeting goals for reducing air toxics emissions and associated health risks. The Grant Agreement, when received, will reimburse the County 100% of the additional $17,425.00 approved project costs. No County match is required for the project period.
Background/Explanation:
Since 2004, the County’s NATTS Air Monitoring Program has been recognized by the EPA and the State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) as an approved local air pollution control program eligible to receive federal grant funding. The County has the authority, through prior agreements, to protect air quality through the implementation of federal and state air pollution rules and regulations.
Fiscal Impact:
The revised Application funding request is for an additional $17,425.00 for the project period July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2023. The grant provides 100% reimbursement of eligible costs, and no County match is required. The request will be a $11,038.00 cash award and $6,387.00 of EPA in-kind support for fiscal year (FY) 2023. The funding source is the Public Works Department, Environmental Management Division, Air Quality general fund operating budget for FY2023.
