• Provides for the County to construct at its own cost a sewer service connection line to a property boundary when the property owner has applied for septic system abandonment and connection to the County’s public sewer system.
• The parcel owner is responsible for other costs associated with connecting to the sanitary sewer.
• Amendment includes authority for the County Administrator to grant exceptions.
• Public hearing required. Advertisement of public hearing notice requirement is 10 days prior to the public hearing date.

Summary
The purpose of amendment of Section 126.302 of the Pinellas County Code is for adjustments to the procedure for converting septic system to sanitary sewer connection. The amendment to the Code provides for the County to construct, at its own cost, a sewer service connection line to a property boundary when the property owner has applied for a septic system abandonment and connection to the County’s public sewer system. The parcel owner is responsible for other costs associated with connecting to sanitary sewer. The amendment includes authority for County Administrator to grant exceptions
A public hearing for this item is required. The printed advertisement of the public hearing notice requirement is 10 days prior to the public hearing date. The notice will advertise on October 2, 2024.

Pinellas County Utilities (County) has authorized Wade Trim (WT) to develop a Wastewater Collection System Program which includes the development of a Septic-to-Sewer Program. The County tasked Wade Trim with policy development and funding and financing assistance for the Septic-to-Sewer Program.
