Approval of the Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) with the Florida Department of Transportation for the design and construction of the “Strawberry” economy parking lot at the St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport.
• The scope calls for the paving of the “Strawberry” economy parking lot that is used as an overflow lot during heavy passenger usage. It is the last parking lot on the east side of Roosevelt Boulevard that can be used before directing all traffic to park on the west side of Roosevelt Boulevard.
• The lot was originally improved by paving millings from another overflow lot in 2016.
• The scope also calls for permanent lighting to be installed as well as an exit plaza where customers can pay their parking fees.
• The total of the first phase of this project is $550,000.00, with this grant funding $275,000.00 and PIE funding the other $275,000.00. We expect an amendment to this grant in another year to fund the rest of the project.
• The expiration date of this PTGA is June 30, 2025.
• Funding for this PTGA is consistent with the Fiscal Year 2023 proposed budget.

Background Information:
The “Strawberry” economy parking lot was originally improved in 2016 with paving millings to give PIE another economy overflow lot on the east side of Roosevelt Boulevard to keep as much traffic as possible on the east side with the Gateway Express construction in front of PIE. This PTGA will assist PIE with finalizing the improvements for this economy parking lot by paving the lot, installing permanent lighting, and providing an exit toll plaza.
Fiscal Impact:
Funding for this amendment is consistent with the FY22 Approved CIP budget with design services to begin in FY23.
