Authorize a public hearing to be held on May 7, 2019 for a proposed modification to the Pinellas County Code related to purchasing.

 

                     Requesting approval to advertise a Public Hearing to modify the Pinellas County Code related to purchasing. 

                     Code Section 2-165 does not confirm to current case law and will be revised to reflect the current structure and direction of the Small Business Enterprise Program.

                     The language currently expressed in Code Section 2-165 will be replaced in its entirety with the proposed language attached.

Summary:

This is a request to advertise a public hearing on May 7, 2019 for a proposed modification to the Pinellas County Purchasing Code (Code).  The proposed modification is required as currently Code Section 2-165 does not reflect current case law nor does it reflect the structure or direction of the County Small Business Enterprise Program (SBE) as approved by the Board.  This revision will replace the current language expressed in Code Section 2-165.

 

Background Information:

Code Section 2-165 language has been expressed in its current form since the 1980’s.  The language contained in Code Section 2-165 does not confirm to current case law, it does not reflect current trends nor does it reflect the current SBE Program.  Revision of this section of Code will ensure the County is accurately expressing current operations while also ensuring Code compliance.
