Recommended Action:

Approval by the County Administrator for the continuation of the Grant Agreement with the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for BioWatch Program for field operations and sample collection activities.

Summary:

This award action provides funding for the budget period July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019, and extends the project period to June 30, 2021.

 

Background/Explanation:

Air monitoring activities under this grant program/project have been on-going since 2003.

This project is subject to certain information security restrictions per DHS.  All information is considered “Sensitive but Unclassified” (SBU), “For Official Use Only” (FOUO), and is not for public disclosure.  Any public records requests made relating to this agreement should be directed to DHS.

 

Fiscal Impact:

This action provides funding in the amount of $190,002.00 for the budget period July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019. No funds are to be carried over from the prior budget periods.

The grant provides 100% reimbursements for approved costs.  No match is required.  Expenditures are budgeted in the Air Quality Division operating budget of the General Fund for fiscal years 2018 and 2019.

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve this Grant Agreement is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
