3.3 Protect and improve the quality of our water, air, and other natural resources

Summary:

The resolution recognizes and appropriates unanticipated revenue of $216,780.00 in the FY15 budget for the Air Quality Tag Fee Fund.  The revenue comes from State-shared revenue collected for motor vehicle registrations.  These revenues are used to fund operations in the Tag Fee Fund that are not reimbursable through grants or otherwise restricted.

Background Information:

The Air Quality Division of Parks and Conservation Resources is funded with both General Fund revenue and revenue received from the State of Florida collected for motor vehicle registrations.  Pinellas County receives $0.75 per vehicle registration within the county.  This revenue is received in the Air Quality Tag Fee Fund and used to fund operations in the Air Quality Division when grant funding is not available.  Tag Fee revenue is projected to be $216,780.00 above budget in FY15.  This action is in keeping with the desire to use non-General Fund revenues to fund operations when allowed.

Fiscal Impact:

Approval of this resolution recognizes unanticipated revenue in the amount of $216,780.00 in the Air Quality Tag Fee Fund and increases the FY15 budget for Parks & Conservation Resources - Air Quality Division by $216,780.00. This amendment is not consistent with the FY15 estimate submitted during the FY16 budget development process.
