Summary:

This grant application for federal funding will support the Sixth Judicial Circuit Family Dependency Treatment Court (FDTC). The County, through this OJJDP funding opportunity, is seeking to enhance the services by achieving permanent stable homes for children, creating healthy, drug-free families through treatment and enhanced judicial supervision.  This proposal would fund a dependency case manager, mandatory training, local travel, testing & lab fees, computers, educational supplies, and office supplies. 

 

Background/Explanation:

In 2005, the County and the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court collaborated and developed a FDTC model that addressed the safety and health of children in crisis while providing greater opportunity to rectify the underlying substance abuse of these crises.  The FDTC program launched by means of partnering with key stakeholders and service providers in in an effort to prevent termination of parental rights and drug abuse and improve family function and reunify families.    

 

Fiscal Impact:

The total project cost is $600,000 and requested funding is $200,000 per year for three years.  A match of at least 25% of the total project is required: $200,000 (in-kind).  The in-kind match will be provided by the Sixth Judicial Circuit Court of Florida. 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this Grant Application is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(4).
