Summary:

Largo Police Department, as a part of their continuity of operations planning, has identified the need for facilities their communications center can use as a backup if the primary center cannot operate.  The Regional 9-1-1 Center can provide this space with no cost or impact on its operations.

The agreement requires the County Administrator’s signature.

Background/Explanation:

Largo Police Department has engaged in continuity of operations planning and found they need to plan for backup operations for their emergency communications center.  Their agency would be significantly impacted if their communications center could not operate, and operations would potentially degrade.

The Pinellas County Regional 9-1-1 Center is the Primary Public Safety Answering Point for the County and Manages the Countywide 911 phone system.  acts as the steward of all 911 Fee funding for Pinellas County including the five secondary PSAPs.  In this role, Regional 911 is a logical choice to provide space to the Largo Police Department communications center when needed as much of the required infrastructure is already in place.

This agreement will support continuity of operations for law enforcement response within the City of Largo and enhance the stability of the public safety system across the County.

Fiscal Impact:

There is no fiscal impact on the County.

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this agreement is granted under Code Section 2-62 (A)(1).
