• Adoption of the resolution supports honorary designation of the Bayside Bridge.
• Bayside Bridge to be designated as The Dillinger McCabe Bayside Bridge, recognizing their service and dedication to Pinellas and Pasco County.
• Companion item Legistar 25-1662A - Honorary Renaming Policy - was adopted on November 18, 2025.
• Resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.

Summary
A consensus of the Board of County Commissioners of Pinellas County on July 22, 2025, public meeting, directed that the proposal of the Bayside Bridge be named the “Dillinger McCabe Bayside Bridge” be brought formally for consideration to the BCC. Commemorating Robert “Bob” Dillinger and Bernard “Bernie” McCabe’s longstanding partnership and mutual respect which demonstrated that vigorous advocacy and principled prosecution can coexist to strengthen the fabric of our community.

Background Information:
Bob Dillinger’s leadership brought innovative programs addressing mental health and substance abuse, expanded diversion opportunities, and championed efforts to reduce recidivism, providing a model for defender services across the State.
Bernie McCabe was known for balancing firm prosecution with fairness and compassion, establishing specialized units to address domestic violence, child abuse, and white-collar crime, and mentoring generations of attorneys and law enforcement professionals.
Together, Bob Dillinger and Bernie McCabe embodied the highest ideals of public service, often collaborating to improve the justice system, enhance community safety, and protect the rights and dignity of all citizens
Fiscal Impact:
Cost is approximately $225,000.00 for the appropriate signage to be updated; this includes 5 multi-lane overhead signs, 5 single-lane overhead signs, 1 bridge mounted overhead sign, and 3 two-post ground mounted signs.
Funding for this resolution is included in the FY26 Budget within General Government, Other Contractual Services.
