Recommended Action

Approval and execution by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 2 with Johnson-Laux Construction for emergency repairs to various structures in County parks due to Hurricane Helene and Milton and incorporate FEMA terms and conditions into the agreement.

 

                     This contract provides Job Order Contracting for facility maintenance, repair and minor construction.

                     Change Order No. 2 provides for emergency repairs, as requested by Public Works, to structures including the boating facilities at War Veterans Park and Ft. DeSoto Park due to Hurricanes Helene and Milton and incorporates FEMA terms and conditions into the Agreement.

                     This contract was competitively solicited and awarded by the Board of County Commissioners on August 10, 2021, for a five-year term through August 9, 2026. Change Order No. 1 approved by the Board for an increase of $3,000,000.00 for a total not to exceed amount of $9,000,000.00.

 

Contract No. 21-0324-CP; increase in the amount of $4,000,000.00 for a total not to exceed amount of $13,000,000.00.

Background Information:

This JOC contract provides the County with a construction delivery system utilizing multiple contractors in a structured pricing program for construction projects. This system dramatically reduces construction administration time.

Increase due to Change Order No. 1:                                          $  3,000,000.00

Increase due to Change Order No. 2:                                          $  4,000,000.00

Revised Agreement Amount per contractor:                     $13,000,000.00

Authority for the County Administrator to approve this emergency purchase is granted under Code Section 2-181(2)(a).
