Summary:

The bid award to Walbridge is to demolish and reconstruct the Keller Water Treatment Facility Operations Center.  The existing building is approximately fifty years old and has reached the end of its useful life.

Background Information:

The Utilities Department has a long-term capital plan in place to replace or reconstruct all of the water system pumping and treatment facilities.  The work at the Keller Facility was programmed to be completed in two phases.  Phase 1 has been completed, which included the construction of a new Transfer Pumping Station and the reconfiguration of the Tampa Bay Water regional connection point.  This project is Phase 2.  The old plant has been decommissioned and is scheduled to be demolished as part of this project. Construction of the facility will centralize operations within a single building at the Keller Facility and allow staff to operate the water system more efficiently with the advanced technology planned within the operations center.

Fiscal Impact:

Total expenditure: $3,978,000.00

Funding is derived from the Utilities Department Water Enterprise fund.
