Recommended Action

Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the Interlocal Agreements with five (5) local government agencies for the designation of Disaster Debris Collection and Removal responsibilities within the County.

 

                     Agreement identifies responsibility between the County and participating agencies as cooperators of the Disaster Debris Collection and Removal Services contract.  The five are: Cities of Pinellas Park, South Pasadena, Treasure Island, and Towns of Belleair Shore and North Redington Beach.

                     Board approved the companion item in January 2026 which awarded contracts to vendors for cooperative Disaster Debris Collection and Removal Services.

                     No cost to County associated with the Interlocal Agreement(s).

Summary:

Interlocal Agreement with five local agencies including the cities of Pinellas Park, South Pasadena, Treasure Island, and Towns of Belleair Shore, North Redington Beach. The municipalities will participate in the cooperative Disaster Debris Collection and Removal Services contract. This is to ensure compliance with Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Public Assistance Program and Policy Guide.

 

Background/Explanation:

The Interlocal Agreement(s) identifies responsibility between the County and participating local municipalities as cooperators of the Disaster Debris Collection and Removal Services contract. Each agency is individually responsible for seeking their own FEMA reimbursements.

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to sign the Interlocal Agreements is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
