Body

Background Information:

On August 14, 2024, the Purchasing Department on behalf of Public Works, advertised an invitation to bid. Four (4) bids were received, with award recommendation to Ajax Paving Industries of Florida, LLC in the amount of $3,103,766.71 as the lowest responsive responsible bidder.

As part of the Annual Pavement Preservation Program, multi-year work order contracts have regularly been used to complete the large amount of milling and resurfacing projects required to ensure an acceptable level of service for the residents of Pinellas County. However, this contract is a design-bid-build contract for specific projects with a much shorter duration to help ensure the four included projects will be completed in a timely fashion as part of the FY 2025 paving program. These projects were identified primarily by their low Pavement Condition Index (PCI) numbers which is the most definitive metric used to determine the annual pavement preservation program. Successful completion of these projects will help increase the average countywide
PCI number, improve pavement quality within these communities.
