Summary:

Change Order No. 1 (final) reduces the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved expenditure by ($187,777.50) and accepts the contract as complete. The reduction in expenditure is due to the difference between estimated and final quantities, and balance of unspecified work not utilized. Substantial completion for this project was achieved on July 20, 2018; final completion was accepted on August 8, 2018. The protracted time between expected and actual final completion was necessary in order to complete upgrades and enhancements associated with an unforeseen condition at the slab on deck walkway. Upon draining the anoxic tank, the suspended slab was found to be in disrepair, and complete demolition and replacement was necessary. As part of this change order, the Agreement term is increased by nineteen (19) calendar days.

Background/Explanation:

This contract was originally awarded by the Board on September 14, 2017 to remove and replace twelve (12) new weir gate riser stems and pedestals with electric operators in the North Train Anoxic Tanks. The project also included removal of 11 aeration effluent channel mixers, restoration of a concrete beam, and coating of the walkway.

Fiscal Impact:

Original estimated expenditure not to exceed:                      $1,256,200.00

Decrease due to change order no. 1 (final):                      $ (187,777.50)

Revised estimated total expenditure:                      $1,068,422.50

Funding for this project is derived from the Utilities Department Sewer Enterprise Fund.

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve and execute this change order is granted under Code Section 2-62(a)(3).
