Sitting as the Countywide Planning Authority, adopt an ordinance approving Case No. CW 16-24, a proposal by the City of St. Petersburg to amend the Countywide Plan Map from Industrial & Target Employment Center to Multimodal Corridor & Target Employment Center, regarding 3.7 acres more or less, generally bounded by 6th Avenue South, 22nd Street South, 8th Avenue South/I-275, and 23rd Street South (regular amendment).

Summary:

Forward Pinellas, in its role as the Pinellas Planning Council, voted 12-0 to recommend approval of the proposal and staff concurs with this recommendation.  The Planners Advisory Committee recommended approval of this case by a vote of 14-0.

 

Background Information:

This proposed amendment is submitted by the City of St. Petersburg and seeks to amend 25 parcels known as St. Petersburg Commerce Park. The subject property is vacant. It is located within the boundaries of the Palmetto Park Neighborhood Association, the Deuces Live Main Street and the Warehouse Arts District. If approved, this amendment will accommodate the anticipated job-generating redevelopment activity sought by the City for the St. Petersburg Commerce Park area.
