Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the First Amendment to the Agreement with The Forestry Company (TFC) for Ecosystem Management pertaining to the Al-Bar and Cross Bar Ranches.

 

                     Contract for ecosystem management at the Al-Bar and Cross Bar Ranches

                     The First Amendment to the contract adds a potential revenue of $260,000.00 for the sale of Palmetto Berries and Additional Pasture Acreage Use.

 

Contract No. 167-0365-P (SS), First Amendment revenue in the amount of $260,000.00.  Original contract expenditure in the annual amount of $695,903.60 for a contract value of $3,479,518.00 through March 19, 2023.Body

Summary:

The First Amendment increases potential revenue by $260,000.00 through March 19, 2023.

As per Section 6 of Contract No. 167-0365-P (SS), TFC has evaluated the potential sources of additional revenue to Utilities from the property.  Based on their findings and recommendations, Utilities is adding additional acreage to the pasture lease and the annual harvesting of palmetto berries.  These actions will add an estimated $260,000.00 of revenue from the Cross Bar and Al Bar Ranch property through the end of this contract.

 

Background/Explanation:

On March 20, 2018, the Board of County Commissioners approved a contract with TFC.  This Agreement provides services for a long-term contract for professional forestry, wildlife habitat maintenance, and land management services at the Al-Bar and Cross Bar Ranches, which are owned by Pinellas County Utilities (Utilities).

 

Fiscal Impact:

Original estimated five (5) year contract expenditure not to exceed:                       $3,479,518.00

 

First Amendment estimated five (5) year revenue potential:                                            $   260,000.00

 

Revenue generated from these activities will be recorded in the Water Revenue Operating Fund.  There is no change to the expenditure.

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve and execute this Amendment is granted under Code Section 2-188(a).
