Background Information:
In 2004, the County Administrator tasked staff to develop an honorary naming rights policy and enlisted the services of Economic Research Associates. In 2005 the County entered a contract with Front Row Marketing, L.P. to assist staff in the development of a companion Corporate Sponsorship and Philanthropic Naming Rights Policy. In 2006, the culmination of efforts lead to the Board’s approval of Resolution 06-27 including the Honorary Naming Rights Policy.
On March 26, 2024 during a Board Work Session, the County Administrator presented information regarding the Honorary Naming Rights Policy. At the 2025 strategic planning retreat, after Hurricanes Helene and Milton effects and damage stabilized, the Board renewed its request to consider recommendations to update the Policy. These recommendations included a peer benchmarking survey from nine (9) jurisdictions, including six (6) counties commonly benchmarked for policy and performance comparisons by the County.
