Approval of the application certifying that monies received from the State of Florida will be used to replace existing console furniture for 77 workstations within the Regional 911 Center.
• The current console furniture is 12 years old, past end of life, and no longer under warranty. There are several maintenance issues occurring which requires the center to pay for equipment and services for ongoing maintenance.
• This furniture replacement will provide furniture appropriate to the required equipment, peripheral, and cable management for the protecting and increased life span of E911 equipment that will have all features working properly and be under a 10-year warranty. This furniture additionally fulfills ergonomic and work area requirements for employees assisting in maintaining health and efficiency.
• State E911 grant funds exist to assist in funding these costs.
• This grant request will fund the purchase of all required equipment and services to install 77 consoles and remove and dispose of those being replaced.
• State of Florida requires application to be submitted no later than June 1, 2025.
• This grant was anticipated and budgeted in the Fiscal Year 2025 Adopted budget in the Safety and Emergency Services Department within the Emergency Communications E911 Special Revenue fund. If these funds are received, they will not offset funding in the Emergency Communications E911 Special Revenue fund.

The State Grant Program is provided to assist Florida counties with the provision of enhanced 911 systems including the purchase of console furniture used in the emergency communications center. The E911 Board assists eligible counties through the E911 State Grant Program using E911 trust fund monies.
The application requires approval and signature from the Board of County Commissioners.

Background Information:
The Pinellas County Regional 911 Center acts as the steward of all 911 Fee funding for Pinellas County including the four secondary PSAPs.
Grant monies received will be used for procurement, project management, installation, and testing of new consoles and removal and disposal of old consoles at the Reginal 911 Center. This replacement will ensure that 911 equipment is properly protected and managed in workstations designed for that purpose as well as provide appropriate workspaces for call takers and dispatchers working extended hours.
Fiscal Impact:
Grant funds of $1,640,354.77 shall be provided on a cost reimbursement basis if the application is approved by the State of Florida E911 Board. No matching funds are associated with this grant. If this grant is approved a budget amendment will be processed to appropriate these funds within the Emergency Communications E911 Special Revenue fund.
Associated expenditures are included in the FY25 Adopted budget within the Emergency Communications E911 Special Revenue fund.
