Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the “Option of Renewal,” allowing the Interlocal Agreement (ILA) between Pinellas County and the Pinellas County School Board (School Board) to continue another twelve (12) months.
Body
Strategic Plan:
Deliver First Class Services to the Public and Our Customers
5.1 Maximize partner relationships and public outreach
5.2 Be responsible stewards of the public’s resources
5.3 Ensure effective and efficient delivery of county services and support
Summary:
Sharing of the radio system with the School Board provides economies of scale and meets the regional goal of interoperability and interagency communications.
Background/Explanation:
The original ILA to bring the School Board’s Transportation Division on the radio system was effective February 6, 2015 with renewal options for three (3) additional one (1) year periods upon written agreement of the parties. The second renewal term is from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018.
Fiscal Impact:
The School Board’s portion of annual maintenance based on their portion of airtime is $81,168. This results in sharing a percentage of the cost for the radio system infrastructure maintenance. Cost recovery to the County will be allocated between the General Fund, Moving Violation Surcharge Fund (law enforcement), and Emergency Medical Services Fund. This fiscal impact is included in the Fiscal Year 2018 Tentative Budget.

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this Option for Renewal is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
