Background Information:

Forward Pinellas determined the need to connect the Pinellas Trail to Alt U.S. Highway 19 (Edgewater Drive) and to King's Highway. Sidewalk has been constructed on the south side of Sunset Point Road from Douglas Avenue to King's Highway as part of the Safe Routes to School program.  Additionally, sidewalk has recently been constructed on both sides of Sunset Point Road from the Pinellas Trail to Douglas Avenue. This is the final sidewalk project to connect Alt U.S. Highway 19 to provide a continuous sidewalk along Sunset Point Road. The improvements to Sunset Point Road sidewalks are needed in order to provide continuous connectivity as well as a safe walking environment for the public that is compliant with the current standards and American Disability Act (ADA). The intersection upgrades are proposed to improve safety, operational flow, and provide pedestrian/bicycle features.
