Approval and execution by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 1 to the agreement with Southern Folger Detention Equipment Company, LLC for the County Jail F wing sliding door retrofit project.

 

                     This contract is for the replacement and retrofit of cell door slider mechanisms, vestibule gate mechanisms and fire door sliding gate mechanisms while retaining the existing doors and controls.

                     Change Order No. 1 is for the replacement of six additional vestibule gate mechanisms that were not included in the original contract, and the installation of door skirts on vestibule doors as an additional safety measure that was requested by the Sheriff’s Office.

                     Total increase for the additional work is $93,632.00 with a revised total contract amount not to exceed $3,178,112.00; there is no increase in time associated with this change order.

                     Original agreement approved by the Board of County Commissioners on June 23, 2020, in an amount not to exceed $3,084,480.00 to be completed within 446 consecutive calendar days.

 

Contract No. 190-0419-N(SCB), for an increase of $93,632.00 and a revised total not to exceed amount of $3,178,112.00.

Summary:

This Change Order No. 1 provides the Facilities and Real Property Division a mechanism to replace an additional six (6) vestibule gate mechanisms on the first floor of the Jail F wing, using the Southern Steel model 3165LXbHCP-1 mechanism. All mechanisms are current production models. This change order also includes installation of (48) door skirts on vestibule doors as an additional safety measure requested by the Sheriff’s Office.  The contractor agrees to conform to all existing contract specifications as well as those specific to this change order.  There is no time extension associated with this change order.

 

Background/Explanation:

This contract was awarded by the Board of County Commissioners on June 23, 2020, for the total contract amount of $3,084,480.00 to be completed within 446 consecutive calendar days for the replacement and retrofit of cell door slider mechanisms, vestibule gate mechanisms and fire door sliding gate mechanisms while retaining the existing doors and controls.

Funding for this project is derived from the Capital Improvement Program: Public Safety Function, Jail and Court Facilities Program, Project No. 004234A Jail F-Wing Cell Door Renovation. Funding is derived from the Local Infrastructure Sales Tax (Penny for Pinellas).

 

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to execute this Change Order No. 1 is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(2).
