Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the Water Rescue Agreement between the EMS Authority and the Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District.
• Provides funding in the amount of $150,000.00 to the Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District for the purchase of marine rescue boat(s).
• This watercraft will respond to water rescue emergencies and assist citizens in waters in and around Pinellas County.
• This action fulfills the requirement to provide funding as identified in the Settlement Agreement, dated July 25, 2017.

Summary:
This agreement between the EMS Authority and the Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District authorizes the purchase of a marine rescue boat(s). This watercraft will improve and expand water rescue capabilities and assist citizens along the waters in and around Pinellas County.
Background/Explanation:
The District will respond to water rescue emergencies and to assist citizens in waters in and around Pinellas County as well as provide closest unit coverage in accordance with the automatic aid agreement.
The District agrees to purchase one or more rescue boats, with motor(s), trailer(s) and additional water rescue assets and accessories. The District will own, maintain and operate rescue boat(s) for their safe useful life at its own expense.
The District agrees the provision of funding of this unit fulfills the requirement for the Authority to provide funding for “Marine 27” as identified in the July 25, 2017 Settlement Agreement between the EMS Authority and the District.
Fiscal Impact:
Purchase of marine rescue boat(s) is not to exceed $150,000. Funding has been identified through the EMS budget for the ALS First Responder program. This agreement is consistent with the FY19 Estimate submitted for the EMS Fund during the FY20 Budget development process.
Delegated Authority:
Authority for the County Administrator to sign this agreement is granted under Pinellas Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
