Summary:

This TCP was developed through the criteria set forth by the RTM program, and requires the installation of a multi-way stop condition at 47th Avenue North and 47th Way North, from 49th Street North to 46th Street North.  Two (2) stop signs will be added to reduce the speeding and cut-through traffic along the aforementioned roadway.

In accordance with the RTM program procedures, neighborhood residents submitted a request to the County Traffic Engineering Department.  Traffic investigations and studies were conducted.  Petitions were distributed by the County notifying 92.6% of the affected property owners (90% required).  A collective endorsement of 77.8% was received from the affected property owners (60% required) in favor of the TCP.

Background Information:

The County’s RTM program was adopted pursuant to Resolution No. 97-291, dated October 14, 1997, and revised June 4, 2002 and June 7, 2005.  Implementation of the RTM program provides the County measures to control excessive traffic volumes and speeding in residential areas.  The program also presents ways and means in which citizens can find solutions to residential traffic problems.

Fiscal Impact:

The County estimates the installation of the TCP at an approximate cost of $1,434.69, with an anticipated additional cost of $236.70 per year for maintenance.

Funding for this program is included in the Department of Public Works annual operating budget.
