Recommended Action

Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the Business Associate Agreement, as requested by Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services Authority with Stryker Sales, LLC, acting through Physio-Control, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stryker for use of the Lifenet and CODE STAT software systems used in conjunction with the Lifepak 15 EKG Monitor/Defibrillator devices that are used by Advanced Life Support First Responders and Ambulance Services paramedics.

 

                     Per the requirements of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act, as incorporated in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and the implementing regulations and guidance issued pursuant to these Acts by the United States Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, with Stryker Sales, LLC, acting through Physio-Control, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Stryker Corporation was requested to execute a Business Associate Agreement as a provider of the Lifenet and CODE STAT software systems used with the Lifepak 15 EKG Monitor/Defibrillator devices.

Background/Explanation:
