Recommended Action

Sitting as the Emergency Medical Services Authority, issue a renewal Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to Liberty Wheelchair Transport for provision of non-medical wheelchair/stretcher van transport services. 

 

                     The current certificate expires on June 30, 2020.

                     Renewal of this certificate will bring to 16 the number of firms that have been approved by the Authority to operate as a non-medical wheelchair/stretcher van transport provider.

                     10 of the 16 firms have applied to render both wheelchair and stretcher van services.

 

Authorize the Chairman to sign the certificate.

This firm has completed a renewal application and has met the Authority’s requirement to operate as a non-medical wheelchair/stretcher van transport business in Pinellas County. The current Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (COPCN) will expire on June 30, 2020. Approval of this renewal will bring to sixteen (16) the number of firms that have been approved by the Authority to operate as a non-medical wheelchair/stretcher van transport provider in Pinellas County. 

Ten (10) of the sixteen (16) providers have applied to render both wheelchair and stretcher van services.

Pursuant to Pinellas County Code, Chapter 54, firms providing Wheelchair/Stretcher Van Transportation Services are required to obtain a COPCN in order to operate in Pinellas County.
