Award the bid to Highway Safety Devices, Inc. for the Advanced Traffic Management System/Intelligent Transportation System (ATMS/ITS) improvement project on Park Boulevard from Gulf Boulevard to Grand Boulevard.

Bid no. 156-0148-CP(DF); in the amount of $3,231,688.00 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within three hundred sixty five (365) consecutive calendar days.  Chairman to sign and Clerk of Court to attest.

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to install conduit, fiber optic cable, digital message signs and closed circuit television cameras along Park Boulevard as part of the County ITS network.  This project will enhance the flow of traffic through video detection and adaptive traffic signal control, provide necessary surveillance of the roadway and traffic conditions, and provide motorists with information for alerts, incidents and evacuations.

 

Background Information:

This project is part of an overall implementation of the Countywide ATMS/ITS effort that was adopted and funded by the Board utilizing the Ninth Cent Local Option Gas Tax in 2006.  As part of the overall plan, this segment is being constructed based on a priority list of projects developed by the Board and Metropolitan Planning Organization.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Total expenditure not to exceed: $3,231,688.00.

 

Funding is derived from the Ninth Cent Local Option Gas Tax (50%) and grant funding through the Florida Department of Transportation (50%).
