Sitting as the Pinellas County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Authority, approve Amendment No. 1 to the Advanced Life Support (ALS) First Responder Agreement with the Lealman Special Fire Control District (District).

Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk to attest.

Summary:

The Tierra Verde Fire District has requested funding for a Specialized Rescue truck with a water rescue utility capability as well as an All Terrain Special Rescue Vehicle with cot to augment the District’s ability to oversee ALS First Responder Services and expand its quality improvement efforts.  If approved, the EMS Authority would provide funding for the purchase of one (1) Specialized Rescue vehicle with water rescue utility at a cost of up to $220,000 in Fiscal Year 2016.  This Specialized Rescue will be identified as Rescue 21 and will remain a Contractor funded unit.  The EMS Authority will also provide funding for one (1) All Terrain Special Rescue vehicle with cot at a cost of up to $30,000 in Fiscal Year 2016.  This Special Rescue vehicle will be identified as Special Rescue 21 and will remain a Contractor funded unit.

 

Background Information:

Resolution 09-38, Section A, #22 allows the EMS Authority to provide funding for the acquisition, operation, maintenance, fuel and replacement of Authority funded and approved rescue vehicles.

 

Fiscal Impact:

FY16 Expenditure = $250,000.00

This was a Fiscal Year 2016 decision package. Funding is available.
