Contract 134-0470-Q in the amount of $341,000.00

Body

Strategic Plan:

Practice Superior Environmental Stewardship
3.3 Protect and improve the quality of our water, air, and other natural resources
Deliver First Class Services to the Public and Our Customers
5.3 Ensure effective and efficient delivery of county services and support

Summary:

The purpose of this request is to increase the BPA by $150,000.00 to account for two (2) centrifuge repairs at the South Cross Water Reclamation Facility (South Cross). This contract was utilized more than anticipated due to unexpected repairs encountered during the high water event of summer 2015.  The increase of $150,000.00 should provide ample funding to account for the centrifuge repairs and on-going preventative maintenance through the end of the contract term of September 21, 2016.

Background/Explanation:

This contract was originally awarded by the Interim Director of Purchasing, on September 22, 2014 for a twenty-four (24) month term with an estimated expenditure of $191,000.00.  The County Administrator is requested to approve this BPA increase as the total annual expenditure will now exceed the delegated approval authority of the Purchasing Director.

Grit buildup during August 2015 at South Cross in two (2) of the three (3) dewatering centrifuges caused severe damage; repair costs were over $150,000.

Fiscal Impact:

Original BPA total                                           $191,000.00

Requested increase                      $150,000.00

Revised BPA total                                           $341,000.00

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to approve the increase to this BPA is granted under Code Section 2-184.
