Approval of the award of bid with Air Mechanical & Services Corp. for STAR Center Air Handler Units 104, 161, and 162 replacements.

 

                     This project consists of the supply and installation of three air handler units at the STAR Center, which are beyond their useful life.

                     Two bids were received with award recommendation to Air Mechanical & Services Corp. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder in the amount of $454,860.00, meeting County requirements.

                     All work will be completed within 365 consecutive calendar days from issuance of notice to proceed.

                     The Small Business Enterprise commitment for this project is 3%.

                     Funding for this agreement is available under STAR Center Air Handler Units 104, 161, 162, and 190 replacements, included in the Fiscal Year 2026-2031 Capital Improvement Plan, funded by the STAR Center Fund in the amount of $527,250.00.

 

Contract No. 26-0306-ITB-C in the amount of $454,860.00; all work will be completed within 365 consecutive calendar days; Authorize the Chairman to sign and the Clerk of the Circuit Court to attest.

Summary:Summary

Work consists of supplying and installing three AHUs. The AHUs shall be turn-key, complete from factory with all associated options and accessories, custom curb adapters, and new direct digital control components for complete operating systems.

Background Information:

The Purchasing and Risk Division, on behalf of the STAR Center, released an invitation to bid on February 11, 2026, for replacement of AHUs 104, 161/162 replacement in the main building with bid opening scheduled for March 26, 2026. Two bids were received with award recommendation to Air Mechanical & Services Corp. as the lowest responsive and responsible bidder meeting County specifications.

Three AHUs in STAR Center’s main building 100 have reached their useful life expectancy. Replacement of these AHUs with new energy efficient units and updated energy management controls will allow the County to provide the air conditioning and heating required for the comfort of its tenants in the areas served by those units.

 

Fiscal Impact:

Contract expenditure not-to-exceed: $454,860.00.

 

Funding for this agreement is available under STAR Center Air Handler Units 104, 161, 162, 190 Replacement, included in the FY26-FY31 Capital Improvement Plan, funded by the STAR Center Fund in the amount of $527,250.00.
