Foster Continual Economic Growth and Vitality
4.4 Invest in infrastructure to meet current and future needs

Summary:

The purpose of this project is to provide and install a 750 kilo volt amp UPS with internal flywheel and associated equipment and controls.  The UPS will provide a level of protection to Facility components against power anomalies that can disrupt operations and potentially harm sensitive treatment equipment.

Background Information:

The Facility began full-scale operation in April 2013. The Facility has had issues in the past regarding power surges causing disruption to operations. During the summer, it is common for power to be disrupted multiple times in one day causing constant reset and restart of equipment, which may take up to two (2) hours each time potentially reducing the expected life of equipment. The UPS will remedy these concerns while also increasing the expected life of Facility equipment.

Fiscal Impact:

Expenditure not to exceed: $639,545.00

Funding is derived from the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund.
