Approve the rejection of bids from Gibson Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, LLC and Ryman Mechanical for the Air Handler Replacement Project at the Young-Rainey Science Technology and Research Center (STAR) on the basis of being non-responsive to bid requirements.
Approve the award of bid to Tappouni Mechanical Services, Inc. for the Air Handler Replacement Project at the STAR Center.
Bid No. 156-0330-CP (PF); PID No. 002594A; in the amount of $341,000 on the basis of being the lowest responsive, responsible bid received meeting specifications; all work is expected to be completed within one hundred fifty (150) consecutive calendar days. Chairman to sign and Clerk of the Court to attest.

Summary:
The purpose of this project is to replace air handler unit (AHU) #40 at the STAR Center. This project is necessary as the current rooftop AHU and support framework has deteriorated to such an extent that both are beyond repair. Replacement of the air handler is essential to maintain basic operating standards.
Background Information:
This project consists of a “turnkey” purchase and installation of one (1) rooftop AHU, complete with custom roof curb adapters and all other components for integration with the existing building management system.
This AHU provides air conditioning for a large portion of the anchor tenant’s manufacturing space.
This project is forecasted and planned in the existing CIP budget.
Fiscal Impact:
Total expenditure not to exceed $341,000.00
Funding for this project is derived from the STAR Center Capital Improvement fund.
