Recommended Action

Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the Second Amendment to the Agreement for the corporate acquisition of County Recycling Inc DBA County Sanitation Service, by Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC.

 

                     This contract is for requirements of Lealman residential waste, recyclables, yard, and bulky waste collection, and disposal services.

                     Second Amendment for company acquisition of County Recycling Inc. d/b/a County Sanitation Service, by Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC.

                     Funding for this contract is budgeted in the Fiscal Year (FY) 2023 Adopted Budget and is consistent with the FY24 Departmental Requested Budget. Funding is budgeted in the Lealman Solid Waste & Disposal Fund. Revenues are derived from the Lealman Municipal Services Business Unit Assessment of $192.00 per year ($16.00 per month).

                     First Amendment approved by the County Administrator on December 20, 2021, to extend contract for 5 years and increase expenditure by $8,000,000.00.

                     This contract was originally approved by the Board of County Commissioners on July 19, 2016, in the amount of $6,500,000.00 for sixty months.

 

Contract No. 156-0364-B there is no fiscal impact associated with this amendment.

Summary:

The second amendment is for the company acquisition of County Recycling Inc DBA County Sanitation Service, by Coastal Waste & Recycling of Central Florida, LLC.  The contract is for requirements of Lealman residential waste, recyclables, yard and bulky waste collection and disposal services. This service to Lealman citizens is provided by an exclusive franchisee under the provisions of a MSBU Assessment, approved by the Board of County Commissioners on December 6, 2005.

 

Background/Explanation:

This contract was originally approved by the Board of County Commissioners on July 19, 2016, in the amount of $6,500,000.00 for sixty months. The first amendment was approved on December 30, 2021, by the County Administrator and it extended the contract term for 5 years until December 31, 2026, and increased the contract by $8,000,000.00 for a contract total of $14,500,000.00.

 

Fiscal Impact:

There is no fiscal impact associated with this amendment.
