Recommended Action:
Approval by the County Administrator of Change Order No. 1 to the contract with Rick Richards Inc. to extend the requirements of restoration of Flatwoods in the Brooker Creek Preserve to all Parks and Conservation Resources (PCR) properties.
Recommended Action
• The contract provides for the restoration of Flatwoods in Brooker Creek Preserve with prescribed fire burn and/or mechanical thinning for PCR.
• The contract is modified to include all PCR properties not just Brooker Creek Preserve. Type of work provide and price per acre remain unchanged.
• This Change Order does not increase the original approved award amount; there is ample funding available per the contract award to include the additional properties.
Contract No. 167-0246-B(AR) in the annual amount of $325,875.00 for a contract value of 1,629,375.00 through May 8, 2022. Change Order No. 1 does not increase the original award amount as there is sufficient funding available on the contract.

Parks and Conservation Resources is requesting to modify the contract to include all PCR properties not just Brooker Creek Preserve. The type of work and cost per acre to remain unchanged.
Background/Explanation:
The Board of County Commissioners initially awarded this contract on May 9th, 2017
The overall purpose of this contract is to provide restoration of Flatwoods in Brooker Creek Preserve. To maintain healthy flatwoods require a prescribed fire burn every two (2) to seven (7) years and mechanical thinning to restore healthy conditions to these flatwood ecosystems.
Fiscal Impact:
Change Order No. 1 has no fiscal impact on the contract value.
Approved expenditure to date: $1,629,375.00
Estimated annual expenditure: $325,875.00
Funding is derived from Parks and Conservation Resources operating budget.
Delegated Authority:
Authority for the County Administrator to approve Change Order No. 1 is granted under Code Section 2-188 (a).
