Recommended Action

Adoption of a resolution accepting the conveyance of the St. Petersburg College Veterinary Technology Center (Premises) from The Board of Trustees of St. Petersburg College (College) to the County for use by the County’s Animal Services Department. The College will lease back a portion of the Premises from the County for clinical veterinary activities.

 

                     On April 6, 2010, the County conveyed the real property to the College for the purpose of developing a Public Veterinary College.

                     The deed contains reversionary language benefiting the County in the event the property is no longer used for its intended purpose.

                     The College no longer requires use of the Premises for its intended purpose and desires to convey the Premises to the County.

                     There is no fiscal impact caused by this property conveyance. Independently, all costs associated with the sale and operation of the facility have been included in the Fiscal Year 2025 Proposed Budget.

Adoption of the resolution will provide PCAS additional space to expand its veterinary surgical services and provide the County with additional training and conference space.

Background Information:

On April 6, 2010, the County sold the property located at 12376 Ulmerton Road, Largo, Florida to the College for the purposes of developing a public veterinary college.  The deed for the transaction includes reversionary rights benefitting the County in the event the College no longer requires the Premises for its intended use.  Pursuant to the terms of the reversionary clause, the College now desires to convey the Premises back to the County, and the County agrees to accept this conveyance.
