Summary:

The amendment extends the existing MOU for an additional five-year period. PetPoint access allows authorized PCSO personnel to look up animal license and microchip information for pets encountered or picked up in the field, assisting officers in identifying owners and reuniting lost pets with their families.

Background/Explanation:

Pinellas County and PCSO originally entered into an MOU on October 27, 2016, providing PCSO access to the County’s PetPoint software system.

PCSO officers may encounter stray or lost animals while performing their duties. Access to PetPoint allows authorized personnel to search available license tag and microchip information to identify an animal’s owner and facilitate reunification when possible. This can reduce the need to transport animals to Pinellas County Animal Services and supports the prompt return of lost pets to their owners.

This amendment extends the agreement for an additional five years with no other changes to the existing terms and conditions.

Fiscal Impact:

None
