Summary:
The approval and execution of the Walmart Spark Good Local Grant application(s) and other pre-award documents are a requirement to obtaining an award. The grant opening date occurred on November 3, 2025 and closes on December 31, 2025.
Background/Explanation:
The Walmart Spark Good Local Grant provides local cash awards ranging from $250 to $5,000 from Walmart U.S stores, Sams Club, and Distribution Centers within the community area of request. A maximum of twenty-five pending or approved applications are allowable per organization at any one time. Pinellas County Board of County Commissioners (County) is considered a single organization. Once awarded and funded, reapplication to the same facility is not allowed within the same fiscal year. Additional facilities can be requested for grant funding.
PCEM applied in the third quarter and was awarded $500 from a single store. Our intent for the fourth quarter is to apply to four (4) additional stores up to the maximum allowable amount of $5,000 to increase funding for the Whole Community program.
Fiscal Impact:
The four (4) Walmart Spark Good Local Grant(s) up to $5,000.00 for a total potential award of $20,000.00 are not included in the FY26 adopted budget and a budget amendment will be proposed if funding is awarded.
If approved by the Walmart Spark Good Local Grant, grant funds up to $5,000.00 per store for a total potential award of $20,000.00 will be provided with no grant match required.
These grants were not anticipated during the development of the FY26 Adopted Budget; therefore, if approved, a budget amendment will likely be requested to recognize and appropriate the funds into the Emergency Management General Fund. Since this is not budgeted, no budget funds will be offset if the grant is awarded.
