Summary:

Walmart Spark Good Local Grant Notice of Award provides small cash donations to grant applicants from local stores and distribution centers.  Funds are used to purchase supplies or other needed items as requested in the online portal application.

Acceptance of the $500.00 award on or before November 18, 2025 provides the County grant award dollars of $500.00 as a direct cash deposit to the general fund.  These funds will be used by Emergency Management for preparedness of vulnerable populations.

Background/Explanation:

Walmart grants are awarded through an open application process to eligible organizations serving the same service area that the facility they are requesting funding serves.  Awards are determined by the local store facility managers in coordination with the Walmart Foundation.  Pinellas County has numerous Walmart Stores and Sams Club Warehouses available for quarterly application of funds.

PCEM applied for the third quarter funding in the amount of $5,000.  Notice of Award was received on October 29, 2025 in the amount of $500.  PCEM has a deadline of November 18, 2025 to accept the award or the grant is rejected.

PCEM use of funds will be in support of the Whole Community Program for vulnerable populations.  The goal is to increase the preparedness of this population by providing handheld solar chargers for cellphones.

This grant award does not require future reporting or audits of the funds by the grantor.

Internal controls are established in coordination with the Office of Management & Budget and Clerk Receivables to ensure appropriate receipt and use of funds during the fiscal year of intent.

Fiscal Impact:

The award provides the County with $500.00 in a cash award.

No Match is required.

This grant was not anticipated during the development of the FY26 Adopted Budget; therefore, a budget amendment will be requested to recognize and appropriate the funds into the Emergency Management General Fund.
