3.2 Provide and promote tourism opportunities

Summary:

Agreement with PTS is for exhibition space at the 2026 Pittsburgh Travel Showcase, which is scheduled to be held January 23-25, 2026, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Participation at this show is necessary to meet the marketing goals of the Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) as it involves distributing information about the St. Pete-Clearwater area to tourism consumers and introducing AAA advisors to the CVB’s travel agent training.

Background/Explanation:

At this show, the CVB will meet with consumers and AAA travel advisors, respond to inquiries, and distribute marketing materials. Attendance at the 2025 show was 10,000 and AAA anticipates attendance at the 2026 show to be between 10,000 and 12,000. New this year, the CVB will participate in a meet and greet with AAA advisors where staff will provide a destination presentation on Thursday, prior to the start of the show. During the show, AAA advisors will be on site to book travel and will report confirmed bookings, as well as follow up with additional bookings after the show. The CVB will also have an opportunity to introduce AAA advisors to the CVB’s travel agent training program that is made available through Visit Florida.

Pittsburgh continues to be an important market for the Tampa Bay area. There are currently nine airlines flying into the area from Pittsburgh, four of which are direct flights.

Fiscal Impact:

Cost: $1,795.00

Funding to support the Exhibitor Agreement in the amount of $1,795.00 is provided through the CVB’s Annual Operating Budget. The source of funding is the Tourist Development Tax Fund.
