Summary:

The prioritization letter to the SWFWMD is an annual requirement detailing the County’s FY 2027 project prioritization for funding assistance. This letter must accompany each Cooperative Funding Initiative project application so that funding may be given to higher priority projects, in the event of limited SWFWMD resources.

Priority number one (1) is a Countywide Coastal Real-Time Flood Forecasting project. The grant funding amount request for FY 2027 is $100,0000.00 with a County match of $100,000.00 proposed. This is funding for year one (1) of a three-year (3) project with the total cost of $353,100.00.

Background/Explanation:

This correspondence is an annual SWFWMD requirement and has no bearing on the agency’s ranking process. The sole project listed is ranked in the higher order of funding priority for the County. For multi-year projects with future funding available, County staff will be submitting future grant applications.

Funding assistance from the SWFWMD is contingent upon concurrent project action and commitment of matching funds by the County to ensure project goals will be implemented. Each project request should address one (1) or more of the SWFWMD’s four (4) areas of responsibility including water supply, flood protection, water quality, and natural systems.

Fiscal Impact:

The grant will be awarded in future fiscal years. As such, it will be included in the applicable fiscal year proposed budgets FY2027-FY2029. Total grant funding amount requested for FY 2027 is $100,0000.00 with a County match of $100,000.00 for a total FY 2027 amount of $200,000.00. This is funding for year one (1) of a three-year (3) project with the total project cost is $353,100.00. The department has indicated funding would be included in the Public Works Surface Water Utility Fund budget.

Delegated Authority:

Authority for the County Administrator to sign this prioritization letter is granted under Code Section 2-62 (a)(1).
