Summary:
This Renewal allows the Medical Examiner facility at 10900 Ulmerton Road, Largo to be used for approved medical examiner services rendered by the District Six Medical Examiner on behalf of Pasco County.
Utilization of the facility will be contingent on the continued availability and sufficient facility space.
Background/Explanation:
On November 28, 2002, the Board of County Commission (Board) approved an agreement between Pasco County and Pinellas County for the utilization of the Medical Examiner’s facility. As the District Six Medical Examiner serving both Pinellas and Pasco Counties, the Medical Examiner’s workload allowed for the shared use of Pinellas County’s facility to allow for efficient operations and shared facility costs.
The existing twenty-year agreement is designed to reimburse Pinellas County for Pasco’s portion of the up-front construction costs and ongoing operating costs for the new Medical Examiner facility starting in 2002. The initial agreement has been a successful collaboration that has allowed for efficient facility utilization, and Pinellas has received fair compensation and expired September 30, 2022.
The County Administrator previously approved the new Interlocal Agreement for the Medical Examiner Facility utilization on March 14, 2023, item #22-0786D that was effective October 1, 2022.
Fiscal Impact:
Anticipated revenues under the proposed billing model are estimated at $342,000.00 annually.
