Recommended Action
Approval and execution by the County Administrator of the temporary alcohol waiver for Junction 311 Florida LLC / Run and Help Foundation Inc, for the Holiday Distance Classic at John Taylor Park on December 22, 2024.
• The beer will be donated by our local beer sponsor for numerous events held in Pinellas County, to the Run and Help Foundation, Inc. The beer will be given to the athletes and volunteers at no charge after the race’s conclusion near the finish line. We will request enough beer to serve our anticipated participants.
• The beer in cans will be kept iced in coolers and served to runners for consumption.
• The beer will be poured by two adults, both of legal drinking age, under direction of the Run and Help Foundation, Inc. Anyone who even appears to be under the age of 21 will be required to show legal identification. No one will be served without proper ID proving their age to be 21 or older. Less than 5%of our athletes are under 21, however, strict guidelines will be always maintained.
• Beer will not be provided until 8:00 a.m. and will be cut off no later than 12:00 noon or when the last participants leave Taylor Park, whichever comes first. There will be no access to any remaining beer after 12:00 noon.
• We will create a small compound within Taylor Park, using snow fencing or barricades around an existing pavilion, restricting all beer consumption to be within this compound. We will position at least one volunteer at the entrance to ensure no beer leaves the compound. We will also post a sign at each exit, advising participants that no beer is permitted beyond the compound.
• Anyone trying to consume an excessive amount of beer will be denied, though this is unlikely to happen after a race early in the morning. However, it will be monitored closely by race officials and volunteers.
