Summary:

Approval and execution of the Lease will provide the required warehouse space for EMS to store medical supplies and have sufficient workspace for operations.  Leasing of this warehouse improves EMS capabilities and replaces the warehouse space currently leased by EMS with Metro Storage and results is annual savings of $31,044.

Background/Explanation:

EMS currently leases off-site space with Metro Storage. Those leases will be terminated upon full execution of this agreement.

EMS has fourteen(14) storage units, and the facilities are shared with the public. This means that while gathering EMS supplies, especially for something like a hurricane, EMS needs to  be mindful of people using the space, like someone moving furniture down the aisle.

During a hurricane, the storage facility shuts down, and access is restricted. This makes pre-planning essential, as EMS cannot retrieve hurricane shelter supplies once the facility is closed.

Additionally, Metro Storage lost power during the last hurricane, so even in an emergency, EMS could not access the building for essential supplies.

This Lease will serve to replace the existing leased warehouse space occupied by the EMS. The move to a new warehouse space improves EMS operations and storage capabilities.

Fiscal Impact:

Fiscal impact for Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) is $57,240.00. This agreement will generate an annual savings of $31,044.

Funding for this contract is included and consistent with the FY25 Adopted Budget of the Department of Safety and Emergency Services Emergency Medical Services Fund.
